A Talk on “Menstrual Hygiene and Life style diseases” was organized by College Internal Complaints Committee-CICC in association with Grievance Redressal Cell-GRC and IEEE VCET Student Branchon 20th October2023 at Sri Rama Sabha Bhavana, VCET, Puttur. Dr. Shruthi Alevoor, OBG Consultant,City Hospital, Puttur has been the Chief guest of the function and delivered a guest lecture on “Menstrual Hygiene and Life style diseases”. The lecture was an interactive session and resource person narrated about hygiene to be maintained during menstruation and some of the diseases that can arose due to today’s life style.

Speaker spoke about different hygiene maintaining methods during menstruation like menstrual pads,menstrual cups, traditional clothes etc. She nicely explained pros and cons of all methods with example. Nowadays PCOD is a common problem faced by many women during their life time. Dr. Shruthi explained PCOD symptoms, precautions and care to be taken regarding PCOD, when to consult gynecologist for the problems of menstruation etc. She also answered the questions asked by the audience regarding the session.

Dr. Sowmya N J, Chairman, CICC, VCET has presided over the function. She addressed the importance of the menstrual hygiene. President explained the regulations and functionalities of CICC in brief. In her address she motivated the students for sharing their grievances related to harassment or ragging in the college. Prof. Roopa G K, Convener of the event had graced the occasion. Final year CSE students of VCET were the part of stage program conduction. Ms. Ankitha, Ms. Mekhala V Rao and Ms. Sameeksha B, initiated the event by invoking the blessings of God. Ms. Krithisha welcomed the gathering. Ms. Harshitha P introduced the guest to the gathering. Ms. Chaitra B was the master of the ceremony. The event closed with Vote of thanks which was rendered by Ms. Rajashree, followed by National Anthem. Under the guidance of Dr. Sowmya N J, Chairman CICC the program was coordinated by Prof Roopa G K. Dept of CSE with the involvement and contribution of all fellow colleagues and students.

The feedback was collected through google form and students expressed their interest towards such kind of programs in future. Total of 120 students and 10 Teaching and Non Teaching faculties have witnessed the program.
