A Talk on “Breast Cancer Awareness” was organized by College Internal Complaints Committee-CICC in association with Grievance Redressal Cell-GRC on 30th October 2023 at Sri Rama Sabha Bhavana, VCET, Puttur. Dr. Smitha Rao, Breast and Endocrine Surgeon, K S Hedge Medical College, Mangalore has been the Chief guest of the function and delivered a guest lecture on “Breast Cancer Awareness”.

The lecture was an interactive session and resource person narrated about Surgery to be maintained during serious condition and some of the diseases that can arose due to today’s life style. Speaker spoke about different stages of breast cancer like Distant spread, Regional spread, Localized, Early stage etc. She nicely explained pros and cons of all methods with example. Dr. Smitha Rao explained about Breast Cancer Screening and it’s methods. She also answered the questions asked by the audience regarding the session. Speaker explained the causes and stages of Breast Tumors in young generation. She explained treatments and type of food that is to be taken and to avoid junk food. Explained more about prevention metthods and different techniques of surgery involved in curing Breast Cancer or Tumor.

Final year CSE students of VCET were the part of stage program conduction. Ms. Thrisha, Ms. Sameeksha B, initiated the event by invoking the blessings of God. Ms. Mekhala V Rao welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sneha introduced the guest to the gathering. Ms. Niveetha B was the master of the ceremony. The event closed with Vote of thanks which was rendered by Ms. Harshitha, followed by National Anthem. The program was successfully conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sowmya N J, Chairman CICC and Prof Roopa G K, convener, CICC with the involvement and contribution of all fellow colleagues and students. The feedback was collected through google form and students expressed their interest towards such kind of programs in future. Total of 120 students and 10 Teaching and Non Teaching faculties have witnessed the program.
