The blood donation camp was organized in Vivekananda College of engineering and technology, Puttur on 19/12/2022. It was conducted with the joint collaboration of KMC Blood Bank, Mangalore. At 10.15 am, the chief guest of the function, Dr. Martina, Medical officer, KMC Blood Bank, Mangalore inaugurated the blood donation camp by lighting the lamp.
The resource person of the function Dr. Martina, Medical officer, KMC Blood Bank, Mangalore spoke about the significance of blood donation. She explained the different processing stages of blood after collecting it and basic health requirements in order to donate the blood. In his speech, she mentioned about the major health benefits to blood donors by donating the blood yearly.
Sri. T S Subrahmanya Bhat, Correspondent, VCET Governing Council, the president of the function spoke about the importance of blood donation to the society. He stressed on the owing need of blood in the society and commended the young volunteers for their noble act. He motivated students to donate blood in large count in upcoming days. He also expressed his gratitude to Youth Red Cross unit of the college for its continuous endeavor in this regard. 100 units of blood was collected in the camp. The re-energize the blood donors, juice was given. The certificates for the donors were distributed by KMC Blood bank, Mangalore Prof. Nisha G R, Coordinator-NSS, VCET Puttur welcomed the gathering. Prof. Abhishek Kumar K, Assistant Professor, Dept. of AIML and Coordinator of Youth Red Cross Unit, VCET proposed vote of thanks and Ms. Shrinidhi (5 th Sem AIML) represented the programme.
