Department Overview

Artificial intelligence (AI) & Machine Learning (ML) is an allied branch of Computer Science, a Four year Under Graduate programme, which focuses on technology for creating intelligent machines which can think and work like human beings. The field of artificial intelligence has been an interdisciplinary endeavor, and is a technology which enables a machine to simulate human behavior. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence that provides systems the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. ML focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves. Artificial intelligence has made its way through all sectors of society. Every person is using this technology in some or the other way. Moreover, it is modified for different age groups and industrial sectors.

The program begins with introductory courses in programming, computer science, mathematics, and statistics that provide a firm technical foundation. From there, students learn core AI concepts and techniques of AI & ML, Virtual Reality, Web Applications, Natural Language and Image Processing, Robotic Process Automation, Business Analytics, Speech Processing, Cognitive Systems, Biometrics Systems, Computer Vision, and Language Understanding. The program includes a variety of advanced AI electives, enabling technical mastery in specific subfields. Also, specific electives are introduced that will focus on the Application of AI in various industry.

Welcome to the Department of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML) at Vivekananda College of Engineering & Technology, Puttur.

At our department, we are committed to nurturing technically competent, ethically responsible, and industry-ready professionals.
With dedicated faculty, modern laboratories, strong industry collaboration, and a vibrant learning environment, we encourage our students to think critically, innovate confidently, and engage in meaningful research. We emphasize experiential learning through projects, internships, hackathons, and emerging AI technologies to prepare our graduates for successful careers and lifelong learning.

The Department of Artificial Intelligence& Machine learning is providing high quality education, along with training the students with all the new advancements.

The Department also takes initiative to improve the Soft Skills, Analytical Capabilities and Verbal Communication of the students by various club activities and trainings.

The focus of the programs is on experiential learning implemented through course projects, mini projects and a major project along with seminars and assignments.

The Department encourages and motivates the students to attend conferences and workshops and publish papers in national / international conferences / journals.

The learned and skilled Faculties of Department give prominence on all the important aspects of Computers, such as Data Structures, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Python, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Operating Systems, Data Science, Cloud Computing, and many more.
