The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), VCET Puttur, in association with the Artificial Intelligence Students Association (AISA), IEEE VCET Student Branch, ISTE VCET, Buildspace Robotics Center, and Akanksha Charitable Trust, organized a technical workshop titled “From Data to Intelligence: Building Intelligent Edge-IoT Systems” on 19 September 2026 at the Buildspace Robotics Center, Puttur.
The workshop was attended by approximately 60 students of the 3rd Semester AIML program. The objective of the workshop was to introduce students to the concepts and practical applications of Edge Computing, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence, and intelligent systems, while providing them with an opportunity to understand how data collected from connected devices can be processed and transformed into meaningful intelligence.
The session was led by Mr. Vineeth Rai K., who provided students with valuable insights into the fundamentals and applications of Edge-IoT systems. The resource person explained the role of sensors, connected devices, data processing, edge computing, and AI in developing intelligent solutions. The session emphasized the transition from raw data to actionable intelligence and highlighted the relevance of these technologies in real-world applications.
The workshop also included practical and hands-on learning activities at the Buildspace Robotics Center, enabling students to gain better exposure to IoT and intelligent system development. Students actively participated in the session and demonstrated considerable interest in understanding the practical implementation of the concepts discussed.
The workshop provided students with an opportunity to connect theoretical concepts learned in the classroom with emerging technologies and their practical applications. It also encouraged students to explore areas such as IoT, Edge AI, automation, robotics, and intelligent systems for their future academic projects and professional development. The event concluded with an appreciation of the resource person, organizers, student volunteers, and participants for their active involvement and contribution towards making the workshop a meaningful technical learning experience.
