The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), in association with the Artificial Intelligence Students Association (AISA) and IEEE VCET Student Branch (STB11471), organized a hands-on workshop titled “Getting Started with RAG, GitHub & Docker”. The session was conducted in the Smart Classroom from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to modern tools and technologies relevant to the current industry. A total of 45+ students from the 4th and 6th semesters of the AIML department actively participated in the workshop The workshop was led by a team of experienced resource persons including Karthik Prasad K (Junior Data Scientist), Rolson Lynal D’Souza (Senior Software Developer), Diya (Junior Data Scientist), Sanjana S Naik (Junior Data Scientist), Mahesh Naik (Junior Data Engineer), Manikanta S (Junior Software Developer), Athul B R (Junior Data Scientist), and Nagprasanna Hebri (Junior DevOps Engineer). Their combined expertise ensured a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for all participants.
The session was highly interactive and focused on hands-on learning. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), version control using GitHub, and containerization using Docker. The resource persons demonstrated practical implementations, guiding students step-by-step to work with these tools effectively. Participants actively followed along, which helped them gain real-time experience and clarity on the concepts.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students actively engaging in discussions, practical exercises, and collaborative learning. Peer support played a crucial role, as students who had completed the installation and setup assisted others, ensuring a smooth and productive session.Overall, the workshop was highly beneficial and successful in achieving its objectives.
