The Basic Science department of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, organized the Parents–Teachers meeting for first-year B.E. students on 20-12-2024 (Thursday) in association with the Parent Relation Cell, VCET, Puttur.
The meeting began with registrations, after which parents were guided to their ward’s respective sections. Here, parents had the opportunity to interact with all the course teachers teaching their wards. Student mentors personally attended to each ward and their parent in the presence of the academic adviser of the respective division.The formal function commenced at 11:30 AM in Savarakar Sabhabhavana, Krishna Chethana Block. The primary purpose of the meeting was to establish a common platform for positive communication between parents and teachers, fostering the all-round development of students and achieving effective educational outcomes.
Prof. M. Ramananda Kamath, Head of the Department of Basic Science, delivered the introductory speech and welcomed the gathering. Dr. Shwethambika P., Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Science, elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of the Parent Relation Cell. She also introduced the newly appointed President and Joint Secretary of the Parent Relation Cell, along with the first-year parent representatives of various branches.
Sri Eshwar Prasad, President of the Parent Relation Cell, addressed the gathering and shared his views about the college. He urged parents to monitor their children’s movements. Dr. Mahesh Prasanna K., Principal, VCET, Puttur, emphasized key points regarding attendance and Internal Assessment marks as per the 22-scheme.
Sri Ravikrishna D. Kallaje, Director of the Governing Council, VCET, advised parents to closely observe their wards’ daily activities and academic performance. He highlighted that teachers are always willing to assist students and encouraged students to approach their course teachers with doubts. He also requested parents to maintain consistent communication with the institution.
Parents interacted with members of the Governing Council, and Dr. Mahesh Prasanna K., Principal, satisfactorily addressed all their queries. The President of the function, Sri T. S. Subhramanya Bhat, emphasized the importance of discipline and urged parents to monitor their children’s studies.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Shreesharanya U. R., Assistant Professor and Basic Science Coordinator of the Parent Relation Cell. Dr. Raveesha P. M. and Prof. Annapoorna B., Assistant Professors, Department of Basic Science, were the Masters of Ceremony for the program. Following the formal function, lunch was served.
The meeting witnessed participation from approximately 200 parents.
