‘Viveka Sanjeevini, Dhan-Utsav & E-Waste Management’ Program at Ojala Primary School, Kula Grama

The PG department of MBA and MCA of Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology organized the ‘Viveka Sanjeevini, Dhan-Utsav & E-Waste Management’ program took place at Ojala Primary School, located in the serene village of Kula Grama, Puttur, on the 13th of August, 2023. This event was a significant endeavor that aimed to raise awareness about medicinal plants and address the crucial issue of e-waste management. Simultaneously, a charitable initiative was undertaken, involving the distribution of funds saved by students from the MBA and MCA departments to benefit the society.

The MCA department initiated efforts to raise awareness among students and parents regarding electronic waste and its proper disposal. Students from the department also performed a play addressing this issue.

Sri. Satish Rao, Vice-President of Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha, emphasized the unfamiliarity with various species of medicinal plants that surround us. He highlighted that the ‘Viveka Sanjeevini’ program stands as a unique endeavor to raise awareness among today’s youth about these plants and educate them about their uses. He called for collective cooperation in executing the program.

Sri. Chidananda P, Chairman of the School Development Committee of Ojala Government Primary School in Kula village, commended the Gram-Vikas program as a beneficial initiative that has contributed to the development of schools. He shared these thoughts during the inauguration of the ‘Viveka Sanjeevini’ program, which focuses on introducing and conserving medicinal plants. The event was organized by Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology at Odala Primary School.

On this occasion, local native Sri. Poovappa Emaje was felicitated. In his acceptance speech, he stressed the importance of introducing, nurturing, and preserving forests for the well-being of future generations. Grama Vikas Yojana Convenor Dr. Soumya N J proposed the report, Dr. Vandana, the Director of the MCA department, extended a warm welcome, while Dr. Robin Shinde of the MBA. Department expressed gratitude. Prof. Neema hosted the event.

Medicinal plant saplings were planted on the school premises, including Ojala School.The program saw participation from over 100 villagers. Furthermore, essential equipment and accessories were distributed to Ojala School, while household appliances were provided to a needy family in Kula village.
