National Science Day 2023 was celebrated by the Department of Basic Science on 28 February 2023 at S M. Visveswaraya Hall, Krishna Chethana Block with the theme “Global Science for Global Wellbeing”. Sri. Partha Varanashi, High performance coach (Team India Swimming), Director, Surf life -saving India. has been the Chief guest of the function and delivered a guest lecture on “Neural Plasticity through movement and life saving skills”. The lecture was an interactive session with hands-on exposure to CPR activities. Resource person explained the different methods to enhance brain activity and concentration of students via different scientific strategies. He motivated the students to participate in various physical activities like swimming or sports to improve their concentration. One more resource person Sri. Rohith Prakash gave demo on CPR activities proving the importance of science for global wellness.
Sri. B. Muralidhara Bhat, Treasurer, Governing council, VCET has presided over the function. He addressed the importance of cultivating habit of asking questions to improve the brain development and motivated students to use science for betterment of country. Prof. M. Ramananda Kamath, Head of the department Basic Science, Dr. Shwethambika P., Coordinator of the event had graced the occasion. Students who won the National Mathematics day 2022 competitions were honoured with prizes.
1st year B.E. students were the part of stage program conduction. Invocation from Kum. Sumana K., Kum. Sinchana K.S. and Kum. Ashritha from 1st semester EC initiated the event. Sri. Mahesh, 1st semester AI presented the significance of Sir. C.V. Raman’s contribution to the world of science and so the relevance of the celebrations. Kum. Nishika 1st semester, AI welcomed the gathering. Kum. Meghana 1st semester CS- A section introduced the guest to the gathering. Kum. Vaishnavi M.S , 1st semester CS-B section and Sri. Sanmith, 1st semester EC were the masters of the ceremony. The event closed with Vote of thanks rendered by Kum.Thejaswi, 1st semester EC which was then followed by National Anthem. Under the guidance of Prof. M. Ramananda Kamath, HoD Department of Basic science the program was coordinated by Dr. Shwethambika.P. Dept of chemistry with the involvement and contribution of all fellow colleagues and students.
