Puttur, February 12, 2026: The Department of MCA, Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur, in association with IQAC, Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), and IEEE VCET Student Branch, successfully organized a Three-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “LaTeX” from February 10 to February 12, 2026 at Sri Rama Sabhabhavana.
Dr. Jothimani K, Director – MCA and FDP Coordinator, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of LaTeX in academic writing, research documentation, and professional publications. The event was graced by Principal Dr. Mahesh Prasanna K, who appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development.
The inaugural session was presided over by Sri Ravikrishna D. Kallaje, Director, VCET Governing Council, who delivered the presidential remarks and encouraged faculty members to continuously upgrade their technical competencies through such academic initiatives.
The FDP sessions are being handled by the resource persons Mr. Anirudha B. G. Somayaji, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA; Prof. Sowmya Anil, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE; and Prof. Rajani Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, who are providing hands-on training and practical guidance on various aspects of LaTeX.
The three-day FDP featured comprehensive hands-on training sessions covering document formatting, mathematical typesetting, table and figure handling, bibliography management, and preparation of research articles using LaTeX. The sessions were interactive and provided practical exposure to participants, enabling them to enhance their technical documentation skills effectively.
The valedictory session marked the successful completion of the program on February 12, 2026. Participants expressed their appreciation for the structured training and practical orientation of the FDP.
The program was compered by Prof. Poojalakshmi, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Rajeshwari M.
The FDP concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and research-oriented skill development.
