On the occasion of National Mathematics Day 2024, celebrated on 20-12-2024, various competitions were organized for B.E. students to highlight the significance of mathematics in engineering and its practical applications. The Mathscape – Poster Presentation Competition, centered on the theme “Application of Mathematics in Engineering,” was conducted at Sri Rama Sabhabhavana from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, featuring 12 teams of two members each. Participants showcased innovative and thought-provoking ideas on how mathematical principles drive advancements in engineering, with topics ranging from optimization techniques to artificial intelligence. The competition was judged by Dr. Govidaraj P, HOD, Department of AI & ML, and Prof. Soumya Anil, Assistant Professor, Department of EC, who commended the students for their creativity and depth of understanding.

Following this, the Mathemagica Quiz Finals were held at the same venue from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, offering an intellectually stimulating environment for participants. The preliminary round, conducted on 19-12-2024 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, saw enthusiastic participation from 55 teams, each comprising two members. The top six teams, based on their scores, advanced to the finals, which tested their knowledge across diverse topics. The quiz fostered a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork among the students.

These events not only celebrated the pivotal role of mathematics in engineering but also encouraged students to delve deeper into its interdisciplinary applications. They served as an excellent platform for participants to enhance their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills while inspiring others to appreciate the beauty of mathematics. Prizes for the winners will be awarded during the National Science Day 2025 celebrations, further motivating students to pursue excellence in their academic and co-curricular endeavours.
