Computer Science & Engineering has emerged from the fusion of computer science and electrical and electronics engineering. Computer software engineers apply the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing and evaluation of software and systems. The integration of Internet Technologies and the explosive growth in electronic commerce and business on the Internet have resulted in a rising demand for Information Technology Engineers who can develop Internet, Intranet and World Wide Web applications and networks.
The department of Computer Science Engineering and Information Science Engineering was established in the year 2001. The departmental associations ACES and Info.SEA conduct various co-curricular activities to Widen the students interest in their own domain as well as in allied subjects.
The departments have the following laboratories with the latest software and hardware configurations. Free Internet facility is made available from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm during working days through high speed optical fiber 50 Mbps leased line of BSNL.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year 2001 with an intake of 50 for the undergraduate program. The course has become popular among students due to the achievements and rigor; hence the intake now enhanced to 120.
The department has well equipped classrooms and computer laboratories with high-end systems as per the AICTE and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) norms. Computing facility in Laboratories include software and utilities such as Windows Vista, Windows Advanced Server 2003, Windows XP, Widows 2000 Professional, Windows ’98, Red Hat LINUX 9.0, MS Office 2010, Oracle 8i, MS Visual Studio, Borland C++, Turbo C++ Assemblers like MASM/TASM, etc.
Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The department conducts several technical and non-technical activities. Several technical talks, workshops and industrial visits are conducted for the benefit of students. The Seminars and Technical talks are conducted in collaboration with various Companies also. Faculties are members of many Professional societies like IEEE, ISTE, etc.
The curriculum design for the program is aligned to the industry needs. Programming, Algorithms, Networks, Software Engineering, Databases Management, Operating Systems, Compilers and Graphics, Web Technology, Visualization and Information Security form the core of technical divisions. Applications Engineering, Data Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering are the curriculum threads. With an objective of developing core competence in the respective subject specializations and for learning newer technologies, the department has formed the following Program Curriculum Threads.
